About

We are a dynamic and curious group of researchers based at the Physics of Fluids chair at the University of Twente, and proud members of the Max-Planck Center for Complex Fluid Dynamics. Our work is driven by a deep fascination with the behavior of complex fluid-like systems in confined spaces—whether it’s particles inside droplets, droplets inside channels, bacteria navigating these tiny environments, or even people confined by walls, like the patterns formed on a soccer field.

What motivates us is the beauty and apparent unpredictability of the phenomena we observe. From microscopic to macroscopic systems, we are constantly surprised by how they behave, challenging our understanding. Each new discovery fuels our desire to explore, describe, and sometimes even explain these phenomena, pushing the boundaries of knowledge.
